I grew up in Bergen op Zoom. A mid-size town in the South of the Netherlands. In fourth grade, I got a birthday present that marked the years to come. It was a do-it-yourself electronics kit. A combination of resistors, capacitors and transistors each uniquely marked with intriguing labels. I would not give up until I knew what drove these things. Devouring a wide range of “how to” books gave me the confidence to take anything apart. I often gained a few spare components while putting them back together. Nothing in the house was safe from me. Ten Commandments of the Entrepreneur

Start each working day with the idea that it may be the last. Ignore all orders that are aimed at destroying your dream. Do whatever it takes to realize your project, despite of your job description. Find people that can help you. Follow your intuition when you select people. Don’t go for second best. Keep a low profile – publicity triggers a company’s immune mechanism. Do not bet on a race if you do not run in it yourself. It is easier to ask forgiveness than approval. Be loyal to your targets but stay realistic on how you may reach them.
